Green Woodwork is a traditional approach to making hand crafted products using age-old foot and hand powered equipment and tools. The relaxing process is mesmerising to watch and addictive to learn. Beautiful products can be made from locally sourced native woods without noise, fumes or dust.
This course provides the opportunity to take one of three broad options over 3 days:
1. Discover the wonders of Green woodwork. If you are new to green woodwork then why not go for the introductory option. You will learn a variety of skills through using the full range of tools and equipment and will have the opportunity to transform a log into a number of beautiful hand crafted products. You will end up making a number of items, such as - a handcarved spoon, a dibber, candlesticks, a mallet, rounders bat, paper knife, .....
2. Build your own Shave Horse. You will learn a variety of basic skills, and use a shaving horse, pole lathe and a variety of traditional tools while building your own shaving horse (to take home with you).
3. Make you own stool. You will learn to make this simple piece of furniture using the special qualities of green wood that avoids the use of nails or glue. Over the 3 days you will create a beautiful hand drawn or turned four legged stool with a woven seat that you will be proud of for years to come.

Bodging in Lower Woods

Location: Lower Woods (owned by Glos. Wildlife Trust) in S. Gloucestershire nr Bristol

Cost: £60/day + £15/day camping

Following on from the great success of last years wild bodging course here is another unique opportunity to wild camp and experience the true delight of bodging in an ancient wild wood. Based in the middle of the beautiful and remote Lower Woods you will have the chance to undertake a structured course exploring a range of greenwood crafts using traditional equipment. During the course you will have the chance to create a variety of items - such as the woodland camping kit: chopping board, spoon and spatula and handcarved bowl; - there will also be the chance to make camp furniture such as a stool or elegant bench; and other items such as candlesticks and dibbers.

In addition to the structured course there will be the opportunity to make the most of the setting with bat walks, woodland cooking, and exploring the woodland for wildfoods.
